Kubica’s condition positive, says Renault

Lotus Renault has acted quickly to refute suggestions in the media that Robert Kubica’s condition has worsened.

Reports earlier today quoted the Pole’s girlfriend Edyta Witas saying his physical and psychological condition had deteriorated over the weekend

In contrast today’s statement from the team said. “The latest update on Robert is that his condition remains positive. He will stay in intensive care for the next couple of days to allow a complete check-up and to avoid another change of department before his final operation.

“His good general condition means that the final surgery (on the elbow) is scheduled for Wednesday.”

It’s likely the girlfriends comments are closer to the mark and are not corporate “spin”. He is obviously going to have good days & bad such is life without multiple Blood Transfusions & 16 hrs of surgery within a week, not to mention Weds. upcoming operation then many months of rehab & fear/doubt about full recovery. Fortunately he has Niki Lauda to offer encouragement with his razor sharp observations, old fool snatching headlines – Martin Brundle already covered that ground diplomatically a week ago. Hang tough Robert, Health & Family first, you’ve got huge support in the F1 world

    • I think you’re pretty much spot on. Very useful stuff from Niki Lauda, a man who once compromised his racing by rolling a tractor!

Ha Ha Adam. Thanks for reminding me of that. Still, between Sir Jackie and Mr Lauda we have all the “it wasnt like that in my day” comments we need. Gotta love em. Nice Blog AC.

That’s very good news indeed, best wishes to Robert.

Well … Rubens had posted on his twitter earlier today that he’d received a call from Robert – which surelly means things are at least stable. All the best for him !
