Mercedes issued a statement today saying it welcomes the FIA International Tribunal process – on the basis that it will give the team a chance to explain its side of the story.
The statement read: “Mercedes-Benz acknowledges the decision of the FIA to take the matter of the Pirelli Test before the International Tribunal.
“We welcome the opportunity to explain the full facts of the Pirelli Test in an open and transparent manner at the International Tribunal.
“Sporting integrity is of primary importance to Mercedes-Benz and we have the utmost confidence in the due process of the FIA.”

Mercedes throwing themselves at the mercy of the Tribunal? Reads like a please don’t hurt me hammer statement,.
Good luck Mercedes, you’ll need it to explain why you used a 2013 car with current race drivers, one of which (Rosberg) let slip last night that he knew which tyres they were testing.
Slowly but surely this whole thing is unravelling, and as more information comes to light it becomes harder and harder to justify this, it appears both parties knew exactly what they were doing, if it wasn’t FIA sanctioned then there will be big trouble. It seems wherever Brawn goes there are issues, and likewise Hamilton (although that I think is just plain bad luck!).
